My Work

My work sits at the intersections of race, education, the environment and colonialism. I study, write, organize and consult about the ways inequality, anti-Blackness, and colonialism manifest in various policies, places and projects across the United States and Caribbean.

  • I believe a radical approach to education that is situated in a resource pedagogy (one that sees identity and background as assets rather than deficits) can have a transformative impact on the educational and professional outcomes of people of color.

I provide specific support around this issue through my educational consultancy.

  • I have been both directly and indirectly impacted by disaster and the many forms—both natural and unnatural—it takes. Our environments (social, natural, political) are all influenced by histories of colonialism and hierarchies of power that help perpetuate the oppression of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous & People of Color).

The Village Activists is my response to some of the disasters (consequences) of colonialism with which we must regularly contend. I firmly believe that through community-organizing and imagination-building we can construct new environmental futures where we all stand a chance of not merely surviving but thriving.

  • As a colonial subject born in the American territory of the U.S. Virgin Islands, I am acutely aware of the need for colonized people to pursue self-determination and advance measures to liberate themselves from the ongoing tragedies of racialized oppression and land dispossession.

Through collaborative work with organizations such as The Right to Democracy, I help facilitate advocacy forums for those directly impacted by colonialism in order to obtain full political and civil rights.
